President Gotabaya Rajapaksa yesterday appointed Army Commander Shavendra Silva as the Acting Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) concurrently with his post of Army Commander, official sources said.

Admiral Ravindra C. Wijegunaratne retired from the post of Chief of Defence Staff yesterday.
