SJB leader Sajith Premadasa has pledged to give an opportunity to estate workers to become owners of small tea holdings as the Prime Minister of a future Samagi Jana Balavegaya (SJB) government.Mr. Premadasa expressed these views at a meeting held on Wednesday at the DKW Cultural Hall in Hatton organised by the Tamil Progressive Youth Organisation to support its three candidates contesting the elections in Nuwara Eliya District.
Former President Ranasinghe Premadasa granted citizenship to estate workers and ownership of land to these families is essential to attain the state of real citizenship, Mr. Premadasa said. They should also be provided with a better health and education system, he added.
