The UNP has not taken any action against State Minister Wasantha Senanayake, Party Chairman Kabir Hashim said yesterday.

Mr. Hashim told Daily Mirror that Mr. Senanayake is very much in the fold and no action has been taken against him. “Mr. Senanayake is very much in the party and the statement made by the party’s General Secretary Akila Viraj Kariyawasam on Tuesday was a mistake,” he said.

Mr. Kariyawasam said on Tuesday that the party had decided to remove Wasantha Senanayake from the party. Daily Mirror’s efforts to contact Mr. Kariyawasam proved futile.
