Former prime minister Ranil Wickremesinghe is likely to report to the CID tomorrow to record his statement on the Central Bank bond scam, sources close to Mr. Wickremesinghe said yesterday.
Clarifying the situation on his refusal to give a time to the CID to record his statement on June 29, they said the CID initially wanted a statement recorded on June 26 but no one turned up on that day and however the CID had asked for another date and Mr. Wickremesinghe had told them he was available on July 3 but with the CID asking him for an earlier date, Mr. Wickremesinghe had agreed to meet the CID on July 2.
However, CID officials who had met Mr. Wickremesinghe on June 29 had asked him to give a statement on June 30 but he had informed the CID he was unable to do so as he had to attend a ceremony at Nalandarama Temple yesterday.
