The Supreme Court yesterday ordered the Attorney General to appear in Court on May 29 to look into the revision bail application filed in court by Former Health Minister Dr Rajitha Senaratne who is in remand custody in connection with the controversial White Van Media Conference .
Dr. Senaratne had filed a revision application in the Supreme Court challenging Colombo High Court’s order to remand him.
The Minister’s instructing attorney- at –law Gowry Sangary Thavarasha had filed this revision bail application in the Supreme Court and was taken up for inquiry yesterday before Supreme Court Judges AchalaWengappuli and Priyantha Fernando.
Court issued notice on the Attorney General to appear before Court on May 29. Colombo High Court Judge Manjula Thilakaratna had issued an order setting aside the Colombo Magistrate’s order to release Dr. Senaratne on bail
Consequent to the High Court order Colombo Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayaratna remanded Dr. Senaratne
till May 27.
Deputy Solicitor General Deleepa Pieris appeared for the Attorney General. President ‘s Counsel Anil Silva appeared with Nandana Perera instructed by Gowry Sangary Thavarasha for Dr. Senaratne.
