A Negombo prison inmate who was admitted to the Negombo Hospital following a chest pain is reported to have died after falling from the eighth floor, Police said.
They said the inmate who is serving a jail term for a drug-related offence was admitted to the hospital on July 12 and kept under prisons security.
On finding the inmate missing, the police and hospital security personnel launched a search operation and found him lying dead on the ground last morning. He was a 36-year-old resident of Kadirana North in Negombo.
