Senior DIG Deshabandu Tennakoon said that those who fail to wear face masks in public places would be arrested and sent for self quarantine from tomorrow.
He said nearly 7,000 people have been warned in the Western Province for not wearing face masks. DIG Tennakoon said arrests would be made under quarantine regulations. The police were also asked to record information on those who break quarantine laws.
Public are asked to wear face masks when they go out and it has become a norm since the outbreak of COVID-19 in March this year.
