The Emigration and Immigration Department has increased the levy for the issuance of passports and foreign travel documents from today.
As such the fee to issue a normal passport will be increased by Rs.500 to Rs. 3,500 and the charge for a foreign travel document for children below 16 years of age will be increased to Rs.7,500 from Rs.5,000 and the levy for one-day service will be increased to Rs.15,000 from Rs.10,000.
The new fee to change the name in a passport will be Rs.1,000.
These increased charges were proposed in the 2019 Budget.
