The PCR testing programme which was to be conducted in Colombo North has been postponed because of a work stoppage by the public health officers (PHIs), Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) Chief Medical Officer Dr. Ruwan Wijeyamuni said yesterday.
“We hope the trade union action is settled by Monday so that we can conduct the PCR tests in Colombo,” Dr. Wijeyamuni said and added that they were hoping to call in the retired PHIs to help carry out COVID-19 prevention work.
However, Daily Mirror learns that some PHIs attached to small unions were not supporting the work stoppage.
