Over 5,000 people who were not wearing face masks in public places in Western Province have been warned by the police.
Police said a public awareness campaign was held at 110 police divisions in the Western Province yesterday to educate people to comply with the quarantine laws.
The campaign was held using loudspeakers in public areas under the instructions of Senior DIG of the Western Province Deshabandu Tennakoon, A total of 5,620 people who were found not wearing face masks have been warned by the police. Earlier, wearing face masks in public places had been made mandatory by the police due to coronavirus spread.
