Eleven police officers attached to the Panadura North Police Station have been transferred for misplacing two T-56 rifles. Police said the officers were transferred from police stations in the Panadura Division due to ongoing investigations.
The Panadura North Community Police OIC, a Sub-Inspector, a female sergeant and eight others were among the transferees.
A probe was launched under the direction of the Western Province Senior DIG after two T-56 assault rifles went missing from the police station on July 6. Earlier, Panadura North Police OIC Inspector Prabath Paranavithana was suspended in this regard.
