As the Vesak Full Moon Poya Day is falling on a weekend, the government had declared May 20 as a public holiday, Home Affairs Minister Vajira Abeywardane said yesterday.
He said the decision was taken following the instructions of the President and the Prime Minister. “Buddhist devotees would be able to participate in their religious activities all around the country making use of the additional holiday,” he said.
