Guests restricted to a maximum of 100
By Sandun A. Jayasekera
Weddings are permitted at high-end hotels but invitees from both sides must be restricted to a maximum of 100. The tradition of guests kissing the newly-wed couple is made taboo.
According to the guidelines and protocol issued by the Health Ministry, there should be no handshakes, hugging, close contacts or dancing.
Western Province DIG Deshabandu Tennakoon said though curfew was relaxed for 18 hours islandwide, the curfew related to health and security instructions would apply to the letter in the Colombo District. “Restaurants including those in star-class hotels, eateries, selling of food, vegetables and fruits on pavements will not be permitted in the Colombo District,” he said. In its advisory, the Health Ministry stressed that the general public, employees of the government and private sectors, star-class hotels, restaurants, eateries, markets and supermarkets among others must follow strict regulations to keep the pandemic at bay.
