Police have arrested an Indian national who tried to enter the maternity ward of the Wathupitiwala Hospital, claiming to be a doctor.
Police said a doctor at the Wathupitiwala Hospital who was suspicious of the man had questioned the suspect. Following the doctor’s queries it had been revealed that the Indian national was impersonating as a doctor.
Accordingly, the suspect reported to be married to a Sri Lankan woman in Thihariya, was handed over to the Nittambuwa Police on Sunday. Police said the suspect was remanded till July 4 after being produced in the Attanagalla Magistrate’s Court.
The police recovered a stethoscope, a fake rubber seal, a syringe, five rolls of the ECG machine prints, a laptop, a mobile and a motorcycle.
