Inspector General of Police (IGP) Pujith Jayasundara and former Defence Secretary Hemasiri Fernando were ordered to be further remanded till January 6 by the Colombo Chief Magistrate.
The order was delivered by the Colombo Additional Magistrate when both defendants were produced in court yesterday.
They were arrested for allegedly committing a criminal offence by failing to prevent the coordinated terror attacks on Easter Sunday despite prior warnings.
Earlier, the Colombo High Court dismissed the bail granted by the Colombo Magistrate’s Court to both suspects on the grounds that the bail order was erroneous and violated the law. Subsequently, the CID rearrested the duo in September.
