Five soldiers were killed and two others injured, when a bowser truck they were travelling in collided with the Yal Devi train at a railway crossing near the Kilinochchi Town yesterday afternoon.
Military Spokesman Brigadier Sumith Atapattu said the injured soldiers were admitted to the Kilinochchi Hospital. According to the police, the Yal Devi Train travelling from Colombo to Jaffna had collided with the bowser truck at the 55th Junction railway crossing on the A9 Road around 2.00 p.m. yesterday.
Four soldiers died on the spot while the other had died on admission to the hospital.
The solders were attached to the Kilinochchi Army Hospital.
