The Special High Court Trial-at-Bar yesterday decided to suspend the hearing of the D.A. Rajapaksa Museum case filed against former Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa until the Supreme Court gives its ruling on this matter.
The SC on Thursday directed the Special High Court to stop hearing further evidence in the D.A. Rajapaksa Museum case till the SC decided on the appeal made by Mr. Rajapaksa on the Jurisdiction of the Special High Court to hear the case. The SC will take up the appeal again on October 1, 2019. The former defence secretary and six others were accused of allegedly misappropriating state funds amounting to Rs.33.9 million for the construction of the D.A. Rajapaksa Museum and Memorial in Medamulana.
Mr. Rajapaksa, who was away in Singapore for medical treatment, arrived at the Special High Court Trial-at- Bar yesterday when the hearing was taken up.
