The Attorney General has obtained a restraining order from the Kurunegala Magistrate prohibiting Kurunegala Municipal Council employees and their representatives from entering the Buwaneka Hotel site pending investigations, AG’s Coordinating Officer State Counsel Nishara Jayaratne said yesterday.
Accordingly, Kurunegala Magistrate A. D. C. S. Hewawasam issued an order prohibiting the Kurunegala Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Municipal Councillors, Municipal Commissioner and Engineer and members, council staff and their representatives from entering the site until police investigations are concluded.
State Counsel Jayaratne said comprehensive investigations were being carried out by the police into the destruction of the Buwaneka Hotel building in Kurunegala.
