Around 35 persons who have been brought back from Kandakadu rehabilitation centre to Colombo has been sent back to the camp after the new spread of COVID-19, Chief Medical Officer Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) Dr. Ruwan Wijeyamuni said yesterday.
Dr. Wijeyamuni told Daily Mirror that these persons were sent back to avoid the spreading of the disease in the city. However, he said no new cases have been detected from Colombo City so far.
“We are now tracing the whereabouts of these 35 but Colombo has not come to a stage where PCR testing has to be carried out extensively. Therefore, there is no need for anyone to panic,” he said. “Health officers including those from the CMC are kept vigilant to face any situation,” he added.
