Lanka Transport obtains highest price for ‘F.F.E.X. Special’ tea

Ratnayake Tea Factory owned by Lanka Transport Private Limited in Deniyaya was able to obtain the highest price for ‘F.F.E.X. Special’ tea at the Colombo tea auction held last week. A maximum price of Rs.4,900 was received for one kilogramme of tea produced by the factory. 
The Executive Director of the tea factory, Srinath Karunaratne said the plucked tea leaves of about 1,000 small sector tea estate owners had been received to the factory, which had been renovated last year spending over Rs.20 million. 
He said the received maximum price would also be beneficial to the owners of small sector tea estates. It was reported that the maximum price of Rs.4,900 received for ‘F.F.E.X. Special’ is the second highest maximum number since January.
