Oman Air, the national carrier of the Sultanate of Oman recently appointed Gihan Karunaratne as Country Manager for Sri Lanka and the Maldives. Karunaratne brings with him over 30 years of experience in the travel industry in Oman, the United Arab Emirats and Sri Lanka. Prior to this assignment, Karunaratne served as Oman Air’s Country Manager for Bangladesh. Abdulrazaq Alraisi, the carrier’s Senior Manager Sales stated, “Oman Air has embarked on a major expansion drive by launching many new international destinations routes and Karunaratne’s experience will set our South Asian operations in the right direction.”
Commenting on his appointment, Karunaratne said, “I am delighted to be heading Oman Air’s operations in Sri Lanka and the Maldives, especially in a developing and competitive market. Oman Air is one of the fastest growing airlines and our presence in these markets is integral to the development plan.”
Oman Air, the newest entrant to the Sri Lankan skies will begin operations in November and will offer outstanding Business and Economy Class products. The airline is positioning itself in the premium segment markets.
