Over 160 classic cars Displayed at Sri Lanka's premier Motor show of the year Sri Lanka Insurance once again showcased the grandest and finest motor show of the year together with the Classic Car Club of Ceylon (CCCC). The Formula Plus Motor Show 2008, making it the premier motor event in Sri Lanka for the 4th consecutive year. The event was held at the BMICH from 24th to 26th October displaying some of the world's finest and oldest classics to latest models.
This year the show featured 160 plus classic cars ranging from 1902 to the 1980s which included favourite classic models such as Austin Mini (1956), Sunbeam Tcelbat 90 MK2 (1952). Vintage cars were a primary section at this year's show, in addition there was a display of the formula one series which was specially brought down from India exclusively for the Formula Plus Motor Show. The show also featured up to 14 different modern designs from some of the most popular brands in the motor vehicle industry .The highlight of the show was the 1st car that was brought to Ceylon, a Wolsley and one of the first few lorries that was brought to Ceylon a Albian in 1911.
The difference in this years motor show was the many entertainment items that livened up the whole show, which included items from very popular Bathiya & Santhush, Duhsyanth Weeraman, and the dazzling fashion show by Geraldine Bandaranyake.
Sri Lanka Insurance is the only insurer with a state-of-the-art Motor Collision Repair Centre, The Formula World that provides vehicle repairing to its "Formula Plus" Motor Insurance policy holders. Located at Seeduwa and Kandy , these two centres can accommodate over 300 & 150 vehicles respectively. It is equipped with the latest technology in the automotive repair industry, not found in most collision repair centers in Asia today. The Formula World Centre features uni-body frame systems, along with computerized measuring systems to provide before and after print-outs of a customer's vehicle to ensure that vehicles are repaired to factory specifications. The Centre is managed by experienced engineers and an army of qualified technicians.
