At this moment it is not a situation of young or old. if performing well retain the player and establish the reputation of Sri Lanka. Seniority is not a disqualification and being young is not a qualification.

SAB your comment simply confirms what I have mentioned; his past. What good is there in delving on the past? Stats guru or anything; what is needed from one of the best batsmen in the team is runs when he bats, not stats of previous matches. Move on....
SAB Sunday, 08 April 2012 08:00 AM
It seems as if you just started to following SL cricket since this recent England test series. Why don’t you visit websites like “cricinfo” and explore the tab “stats guru” for a player called Sangakkara? You will see lot of “talking” been done in those statistics for you to relish.

Dropping Chandimal and keeping Tirrimana is a waste. Why not try him as an opener or ask Mahele to open. In most matches Mahela was in fact opening as Tirrimana or Dilshan went out fast!

We gave away the series due to lack of self confidence in the second test.. Well done, at least managed to drew the series. Hope we keep improving with this experience without Greats Murali & Vass.
sanaboy Sunday, 08 April 2012 05:16 AM
Congrats for both teams. SL shows some maturity in tests during the series. We really mis the 3rd test due to the IPL? ????

There's no point in basking in past glories. It's high time Sangakkara did something something of value for the team. He relishes talking more than run scoring.

Well done Sri Lanka and Mahela. Lets hope the next test with England will be a win for the team. The team should give themselves a rest - too much cricket this year?
Kolomba Kaka Sunday, 08 April 2012 01:11 AM
The second test could have been drawn if not won easily if our so called seniors other than Mahela did something better.
Kura Sunday, 08 April 2012 12:21 AM
Selectors pls, review the capacities of Thirimanna and Prasenna
Conty Saturday, 07 April 2012 09:51 PM
3 or 4 people out of 11 do not make a team, it is team work that is needed, and that was shown in plenty. When the top failed Mahela and others filled the top order failure, though a senior in age I take my hat off to Rangana Herath, well done, pity he did not get the opportunity while Murali was in the team. A lesson to be learnt "do not put all the eggs in one basket"

Your argument is invalid. S/L cricket is still in it's infancy when it comes to the likes of England,Australia,West Indies, India, Pakistan. West Indies will be up there soon as they showed in the recent limited over and T20 games against Australia. However when the politics of S/L cricket ends and they get their house in order the sooner S/L cricket will prosper. Dedication is what is needed money will come later. Chandimal is talented, young and keen he must be allowed to develop and not kicked in the but for a single failure he has a huge future give him a go!!!!!!!!!
Conty Saturday, 07 April 2012 09:17 PM
Dilshan & Sanga still have a lot to offer S/L cricket, don't knock them when they fail once or twice this happens to the best of cricketers. Remember Ricky Ponting he replied the critics with a double century against England in Australia. Dilshan & Sanga have both contributed to S/L cricket in the past so give them a break please.
siripala Saturday, 07 April 2012 03:47 PM
it is very necessary senior players replace with young players who performed well in domestic series. it is high time to find replacements for Dilshan, Sanga etc
Black Mamba Saturday, 07 April 2012 03:28 PM
There are lots of lessons to learn from this series and I hope SL will take them seriously and go forward. With all respects to Herath, we could have also used a leggie-Kaushal Lokuarachchi comes to mind and he can also bat. One lesson!
ULM Ali Saturday, 07 April 2012 03:36 PM
Tanx SL still no1.

Three hearty cheeers to Strauss plus his line-up
Due to lack of proper consistency and application of our middle order and tail enders, Sri lanka couln't make a match of it.

Mahela knowing your capabilities you and your team would have done better for sure.
