Shown here are images which shocked the country. The x-ray image shows steel nails driven into the hands of a Sri Lankan maid while she was working in Saudi Arabia. The victim is now being treated at a hospital in Matara. Pix by Krishan Jayaruk

This is an unrealistic story and so far from being true. How did she make it past the airport metal detector?

I'm Saudi citizen ... I apologize to the misfortunate maid and the nice people of Sri Lanka for dispecable act of brutality and torture and for what she's been through ... This incident doesn't represent all Saudi people or Islam and we don't encourage such inhuman behavior. Who ever did this to her has to be brought to court and prosecuted and put away. I would recommend from Sri lankan officials in Saudi Arabia to report it the Saudi government via the proper channel of diplomatic communication and ask for justice. Such an act will strenghten the bond between two countries to ensure more protection of Sri lankan labors rights and their safety ... But don't stay mute ... go and report it diplomatically ASAP
Once again I apologize for the unique unjust and inhuman act by the couple and they only represent themself and their twisted sanity !!!!
Kind regards,
Ahmed Gahtani
