I can see a Muslim religious leader too. Will he accept if asked to stop animal sacrifice in Haj festival season? is it not double stand?

Al Rasa Thursday, 30 August 2012 09:28 AM

Very exemplary move by Minister Mervin. No any other minister within your fold even in the history of UNP regime no one dared to organize such a protest. We bless minister Mervin a long life and long career in politics.

Let us all get together to stop uncivilised practices like animal sacrifice which has no place in our society.

    Junta Thursday, 30 August 2012 11:04 AM

    Here's the deal,

Animal Sacrifices in places of worship and especially in houses should be banned. This should be because of health and safety reasons not because of anything else.

Killing of animals should be limited to the butchers under strict guide lines and the people's right to eat meat should be protected at all time.

    shan Thursday, 30 August 2012 10:44 AM

if it is a religious obligation, they should be given the right to do so. and in Islam the animal is not tortured to death by inhumanly hitting it to its head with a hammer or so. if the animal is ill-treated and put to death then it is an inhuman act. Apart from that do you know how many non muslims take meat along with their daily food.?? do not make silly comments....

It will be nice if no one is murdered/raped/molested during this period.... and for ever in this country. At the rate things are happening, we are going no where!!

    Mifly Thursday, 30 August 2012 12:12 PM

It's disgusting how in this day and age people still carry out such barbaric practices such as animal sacrifice.

mr. gamarala Thursday, 30 August 2012 07:06 PM
