New Aukana Buddha statue to be revealed on April 23

A replica of the Aukana Buddha, considered as the highest standing Buddha statue in Asia, will be declared open at Mathugama on April 23 by President Maithripala Sirisena. The statue was constructed by the Mathugama UNP chief organiser and Western Province Parliamentarian Jagath Pinnagodawithana at a cost of Rs 90 million. Pix by Nimali Kahawala
