The beach stretch between the Kalutara and Mount Lavinia is being filled in order to expand it and create an artificial beach. The construction works are being expedited during the curfew since the area has been deserted. Pix by Rekha Tharangani Fonseka

Looks very nice, but where are they digging the sand from. As per the law of nature when you take a space from the sea, it will take the same amount of space from another area

Simply an excellent idea and beautiful. It is for the future generations and to build a very attractive tourist destination, which in turn will help Sri Lanka's economy.
