The National Chamber of Commerce (NCC) is always in the forefront and makes a special effort towards enhancing the productivity and economy of the country. In this backdrop, the NCC is inviting key stakeholders for an open discussion/forum on the subject of ‘Night Work for Women and Five Days Working Week’ on Friday, June 26, 2015, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., at the Chamber Auditorium, 450, D R Wijewardene Mawatha, Colombo 10.
Due to the current labour law restrictions placed on night work for women, many female employees keep away from night work, thus reducing productivity in industries and also hold back investors from setting up of business ventures in Sri Lanka, especially in the IT, BPO and KPO industries.
The speakers -- Employers’ Federation of Ceylon (EFC) Director General Kanishka Weerasinghe, MAS Holdings HR Director Shakthi Ranathunga, Excelsoft Chief Operating Officer and SLASSCOM Director Hariharan Padmanaban will air their views and share their experiences.
Additionally, the Labour Commissioner is expected to participate as a special guest at the forum.
