Laugfs Petroleum (Pvt.) Ltd recently concluded another successful session of a series of outbound training programmes for its employees at the picturesque National Training Centre (Green Centre) in Tholangamuwa.

Conducted with the objective of enhancing service excellence and leadership skills, the programme was carried out by renowned trainer Sri Lanka Foundation (SLF) Senior Lecturer Dr. Saman Weerawansa, who possesses years of experience with similar programmes.

In addition to the enthusiastic participation of a large number of employees, the training programme was attended by the senior management of Laugfs Petroleum including Director/CEO Mahesh A. Weerasena, Consultant J.H. Pathmasiri and Assistant General Manager Nalin Mallikaarachchi. The outbound training programme is regularly organised and carried out five times each year in batches of around 50-60 employees in order to accommodate the large workforce and is a much anticipated event on the Laugfs Petroleum calendar.

Speaking about the programme, Laugfs Petroleum Director/CEO Mahesh Weerasena remarked, “While technical skills play a key role in the quality and effectiveness of our product and service delivery, people skills are critical for delivering a superior customer experience. We believe that work ethic, attitude, communication skills, emotional intelligence and a host of other personal attributes in employees contribute towards a high level of customer satisfaction. As a customer centric organisation, we organised this training programme to develop these qualities in our staff and to ensure a superior service to our customers.”

The programme included a series of activities, including yoga and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) techniques, which are proven to aid personal development. Neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) is an approach to communication, personal development and psychotherapy, which focuses on the association between the neurological processes (‘neuro’), language (‘linguistic’) and behavioural patterns learned through experience (‘programming’) and uses these to achieve specific goals. These outbound training programmes have become part of its annual employee development initiatives, focusing primarily on leadership development and enhancing service excellence.

Since its inception in 2004, Laugfs Petroleum has expanded across the country over the past two decades with a fast expanding network of fuel filling stations serving over 30,000 customers daily. Pioneering industry growth through innovation and technology, Laugfs was also the first to introduce the use of Near Field Communication (NFC) in the petroleum retail industry of Sri Lanka.

Laugfs Petroleum is a fully owned subsidiary of Laugfs Holdings, one of the largest diversified business conglomerates and a trusted name in
