Once again popular retail clothing chain Fashion Bug, which is also one of Sri Lanka’s largest retail clothing chains, has been recognized for its achievements by being awarded the most popular website in Sri Lanka under the Advertising & Marketing Category for the year 2015.

This recognition which was awarded by Bestweb.lk is a unique and innovative competition organized by the LK Domain Registry. Since its inception in 2009, this has been a highly successful competition which has been received with much enthusiasm from all participants.

This year too, more than 600 entries were received by the judging panel for selection and the web sites were judged on creativity, quality of graphic design, artistry, technological expertise and the quality of the content made available to the user.

Fashion bug emerged the gold award winner for the most popular website in the Advertising & Marketing Category, while Sampath Bank won the Corporate, Banking & Finance Category and Hiru News won in the Media Category. A host of other leading Corporates too won awards in what was a glittering ceremony.
The award was accepted by Shabier Subian - Director of Fashion Bug and Dr. S.H.M Faraaz - Deputy General Manager Fashion Bug.

“www.fashionbug.lk has been a very active site since its inception and is being continuously monitored by Company experts in order to update information about our new products, offers, campaigns etc, whilst being continuously modified to make it user friendly to our customers”, said Subian, who expressed his pleasure at receiving the award. “In fact in 2013 Fashion Bug won the Silver award for the best website and we are very pleased to have made it to the top this year”.

Subian expressed his gratitude to their loyal customers who have patronized them over the years and their staff who he claimed to be the cornerstone of the Company’s growth and expansion.

Fashion Bug have been in the apparel industry for more than 21 years now and have been the recipients of many awards both locally and internationally during the past decade, the most recent being  the Platinum Dealer Award from Rainco Industries and the ‘Best Key Account Partner’ by Triumph International .

The Company is also the recipient of the International Star Award for Quality which is one of the most sought after accolades in the realm of business and quality management worldwide, presented by the Business Initiative Directions, Geneva, Switzerland.

Fashion Bug was founded in 1994 in Bandarawela with a 7 member team, the first shop being a mere 500 square feet in Bandarawela town. The brainchild of Founders Rizal Subian and Ashan Subian and A.C.M. Thariq, today it has evolved into a household brand that boasts of 16 outlets island wide. Fashion Bug currently numbers over 1250 Sri Lankan men and women amongst its staff, who hail from diverse backgrounds and ethnicities; hence they constitute a truly Sri Lankan corporate entity. An equal opportunity employer, Fashion Bug prides itself on the fact that they invest in their employees, which they believe is a key to their success.

All showrooms currently stock ladies, gents and children’s clothing, as well as household linen. Both Eastern as well as Western wear is on sale, while a range of designer sarees, kurthis and salwars , together with accessories, handbags, shoes, etc in a range of designs and colours to suit all tastes are available .

“In addition to the array of  our very own brands such as Givo, Posh, Hush, Jobbs, Bigg Boss, Rock Star and Bug Junior, Fashion Bug also features international brands such as Levis, Crocodile, Amante and Triumph in our showrooms”, said Subian.

In fact Fashion Bug was the first clothing retailer of magnitude to mark its presence in the South when they opened their 17th branch in Matara in March 2013 marking a significant milestone for Fashion Bug as well as Southern Sri Lanka .

Other than the 1250 employees who are currently on the payroll, Fashion Bug sustains over 2000 Sri Lankan men and women via the supplier chain that manufactures their own brands. “Some of our suppliers who have been with us since inception have grown from SMEs to large factories side by side with us, and we take pride in their success”, said Subian.
