A number of female directors were appointed to the company boards of the country’s largest conglomerate John Keells Holdings PLC last month, contributing to a diminishing of gender inequality at top managerial levels.
Internationally experienced investment banker Anarkali Moonesinghe was appointed as a Director of John Keells Hotels PLC.
Attorney Anandhiy Gunawardhana was appointed as a Director at the tea brokerage John Keells PLC, while Ceylon Cold Stores had John Keells Director Sharmini Ratwatte and Cambridge scholar and food technology expert Dr. Shanthi Wilson appointed as Directors.International branding expert Shehara de Silva was appointed as a Director of Keells Food Products PLC.
By 2012, just 5 percent of directors at publicly listed companies were females.
