Colombo University Sociology Department Senior Lecturer Jagath Wellawatte has been appointed as Chairman of Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation Limited (SLIC).
Wellawatte served as the Chairman of Sate Mortgage & Investment Bank from May 2010 to January 2015.
He is a former Chairman of National Child Protection Authority (from April 2007 to May 2010).
He also served as Chairman of Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Bureau from December 2005 to March 2007.
Wellawatta holds a Master of Sociology and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from the University of Colombo. He is currently reading for his PhD in Sociology.
Wellawatte is scheduled to assume duties as SLIC Chairman this morning.
Other newly appointed directors to SLIC include: Anil Meegahage in place of R.M.A. Rathnayake, Pubudu Wimalarathna in place of K.V.C. Dilrukshi, Anil Koswatte and Nishantha Dayananda.
Treasury representative K.A. Vimalenthirajah will continue to serve as a board director.
