Omega Line Toastmasters inducts Executive Committee

The seventh installation ceremony to induct the Executive Committee of Omega Line Toastmasters Club for 2016/2017 was held at Goldie Sands Hotel Negombo recently. 

The chief guest for this occasion was Ornamento Intimo (Pvt.) Ltd CEO/MD Raj Vaithyanathan and the guest of honour was District 82 Programme Quality Director DTM Ajantha Jayawardane. Many other distinguished Toastmasters from District 82 also graced the occasion. Toastmaster Charman Dep was inducted as President of the new Executive Committee. 

Omega Line Toastmasters is the brainchild of Omega Line Group Director Felix Fernando, who is also Charter President of the Club. This Toastmasters Club, which was chartered on August 2, 2009 with 23 members, has come a long way in Toastmastering with many achievements to its credit during these seven years. It currently holds a membership of 88.

The members of Omega Line Toastmasters have represented the club at area, division and the district on many occasions at contests which are outstanding performances. In 2010 TM Chethiya Subasinghe became the first runner-up at the division’s Humorous Speech contest. TM Jiveeka Madurasinghe was the second runner-up at Evaluations contest in 2012 in the division. In 2013, TM Dilshan Hewawasam was the winner of the division’s Humorous Speech contest. In 2014, he became the first runner-up at the division’s Humorous Speech contest. In 2014 and 2015, TM Sudath Fernando was the winner at the division’s International Speech contest. This year, TM Clarisha Peirispulle became the second runner-up at the division’s international speech contest. 

The club has produced three Area Directors – TM Chethiya Subasinghe, TM Saman Jayasinghe and TM Sudath Fernando. Chethiya Subasinghe, a Distinguished Toastmaster from Omega Line Toastmasters, is Director Division H in District 82 this year. This year’s Area Director Division H2 and Division Director Division H, both being members of Omega Line Toastmasters Club, too are unique.  

Omega Line Toastmasters achieved the Presidents Distinguished Club status continuously for five years from the year of charter.It was a memorable installation ceremony that ended with a sumptuous dinner and live music where the members danced and enjoyed till late into 
the night.
