Eagle Logistics marks 11 years in business

Eagle Logistics Colombo celebrated its 11th anniversary on 20th October with religious ceremonies at their corporate office in Colombo 03.  

The company started business in 2005 as a joint venture with CL Synergy ( Pvt) Limited having just 3 staff, and today it has more than 100 employees and 7 offices in the island and a branch office in Maldives. Eagle Logistics offers uninterrupted customer service, backed by the largest customer service department in a freight company of Sri Lanka, and different product lines in supply 
chain management.

The co-business being international import freight, Eagle Logistics has created its own products such as shipping desk, logistics consultation and regulatory consultation which is not common in the industry of freight forwarding in 
Sri Lanka. 
The company considered supply chain management is important as logistics provider since logistics is being part of same. Asanga Weerackody, Managing Director said, “Dealing with customer cargo booking coupled with origin and destination services is considered as traditional freight forwarding since global business practices changed, and supply chain managements became gaining ground. With this change we realized the potential of being part of supply chain management and understand the whole process is important. So we started to offer multiple services other than the co-products. 
‘Think Different’ is the company theme and it is been practiced at all the time during the past 11 years. Starting from recruitment where company never recruited employees from any competitor and all the employees are started their freight forwarding carrier at Eagle Logistics. Ms. Christine Jennifer head of HR stated that grooming new comers is interesting as they are fresh and they come from different background. First few months we understand their weakness and strength and then we match that with the position and It’s always successful.  

Ashan Fernando, AGM who is taking care of the whole operation today said that he started carrier at Eagle Logistics as a junior executive 10 years ago and company HR policy help young inexperience people to join the logistics industry which is always looking for staff with experience.
