Japanese conglomerate, Mitsui & Co., Ltd is poised to relaunch its activities in Sri Lanka by opening up an office at the World Trade Centre in Colombo.
Mitsui has been dormant in Sri Lanka since May 2007.
Mitsui has been exporting Ceylon Tea to Japan for a long time and now Mitsui will pursue the potential business opportunities in the area of infrastructure such as ports, traffic and power, also that of energy such as liquefied natural gas (LNG).
Some of Mitsui’s contributions to Sri Lanka are parliament complex, hydropower station in Kukule Ganga, marine cable with India, Hilton Colombo, etc.
Mitsui is one of the most diversified and comprehensive trading, investment and service enterprises in the world, with 139 offices in 66 countries.
