Woman arrested for offering bribe

The police arrested a 58-year-old woman who offered a bribe of Rs.100,000 to the OIC of the Uragaha Police SI Greshan Silva to release her son-in-law on a police bail.
 
The youth was arrested for robbing her gold chain yesterday in Wellangoda in Uragaha, the police said. The suspect wanted the OIC to take the bribe to take steps not to produce her son-in-law before the Galle Magistrate. She had come to the police station last evening after she was inform that he will be produced before the courts.
 
He was arrested after she lodged a complaint with the police. He had robbed the gold chain when she was not present inside the house. Police media spokesman Ajith Rohana said the woman was taken into custody immediately after she offered the bribe. 
 
She is to be handed over to the Bribery and Corruption Commission for further investigations. (Supun Dias)

    She should have allowed the gold chain robber to get his due punishment rather than offering bribes and get herself punished.
