The Jathika Nidahas Peramuna (JNP) led by Minister Wimal Weerawansa today alleged that the abduction of a trader in Wanathamulla was a conspiracy of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) and the United National Party (UNP), to put the government into difficulty.
JNP Spokesman and Member of the Colombo Municipal Council Mohamed Muzammil told journalists that the participation of JVP candidate for the Western Provincial Council K. D. Lal Kantha and UNP MP Ravi Karunanayake’s arrival at the protest in Wanathamulla proved that this was a planned conspiracy.
“The safe return of the victim over whom the protest was staged also creates suspicion. How could Mr. Karunanayake and Mr. Lal Kantha manage to come to the protest just after it began? Therefore, a proper investigation into the matter should be carried out. The same opposition forces may be behind the scarcities of essential goods and behind the recent forest fires. The recent forest fires could also be acts of sabotage,” Muzammil charged.
He recalled that similar incidents took place when a resolution on Sri Lanka was brought to the United Nations Human Rights Commission last year.
Mr. Muzaamil also mentioned about a statement made by JVP Leader Anura kumara Dissanayake that Sri Lanka could not be taken before an international court for war crimes as Sri Lanka had not signed the Rome convention of setting up international courts. Countering this argument Muzaamil said, Section Seven of the UN Charter provides provisions to bring in war crime charges even if a country had not signed the above mentioned convention.
He said the nations which have veto powers can take any country before international courts if the country concerned agrees to it. Therefore he said Sri Lanka can be taken to international courts if a future UNP government agrees to it.
What about Hor. MP Duminda Silva he also came , I think he also may planed this with Lal Kantha
