The Colombo High Court today issued an arrest warrant on the Commissioner of Motor Traffic for failing to be  present in court to give evidence in a case filed by the Bribery Commission.

The Commissioner of Moor Traffic was summoned by the High Court to be present in court today to give evidence in the trial for the prosecution in a case filed by the Commission to Investigate to Allegations of Bribery or Corruption alleging that the suspect Anura Chandrasiri, the computer operator cum Legal Officer of the Immigration and Emigration Department for earning Rs 4.4 million  worth of  cash and  for possessing immovable properties worth Rs 1.5 million by  unlawful sources.

The court issued summons to the Commissioner  to be present in court yesterday  to give evidence for the prosecution. However when the case was called the Commissioner was not present in court.

More like this should happen as there are a large number of bribe-takers in control of the customs, immigration, motor traffic, police, etc.

Customs, immigration and motor traffic, are the most corrupt institutions in Sri Lanka! SLAS officers are in a 'race' to get positions in these departments.
