I was a university student during 1980s during which time Kumar Gunarathnam engaged in active university/national politics. We lost extra three years of our productive life owing to the political ideologies of then JVP.Therefore, It took 7 years for us to get our degrees. Although the JVP seems to have learned from their past mistakes, Mr. Kumar Gunarathnam seems to have commenced his political activities from where he stopped in the late 80s. This aspect is clearly visible from the nature of demands made by a fraction of current university students and the nature of their recent protest marches. Whether we like or not this fraction of students represents the minority of potential future leaders of the country as they show the power and motivation to fight for what they believe is right. Unfortunately, it seems they are totally misguided. Thanks for what happened in the late 80s we are currently going through a leadership crisis in the country too. Under the circumstance, I firmly
