Foreigners sending Hashish out of India is not something new. Watch National Geographic's Banged Up Abroad program. It shows foreigners who tried to smuggle drugs and who got caught to the local police.
Guy must have watched it before committing this age old crime :D

In the west this is not a big crime any longer. Most countries have now realized that its a waste of time and money to prosecute these people who use marijuana as a recreational drug. This is no worse than liquor.
