A Britisher, who visited the Colombo Central Mail Exchange to collect three parcels addressed to film actress Angela Seneviratne and alleged to have contained hashish was produced before court and remanded till May 8, by the Colombo Fort Magistrate today.

The British citizen Brutton Saul was detained under Police Narcotic Bureau custody for further questioning and produced before the Magistrate Kanishka Wijeratne.

The Police Narcotic Bureau alleged the suspect had 366.70 grammes of hashish with him when he was arrested at the Colombo Central Mail Exchange (CCME) and also charged the suspect was connected with drug smuggling and objected to be released on bail.
Meanwhile the defence counsel who appeared for the suspect argued the suspect could be released on bail since the substance found from the suspect’s possession was a product of cannabis. (Lakmal Sooriyagoda)

Foreigners sending Hashish out of India is not something new. Watch National Geographic's Banged Up Abroad program. It shows foreigners who tried to smuggle drugs and who got caught to the local police.

Guy must have watched it before committing this age old crime :D

If we wear shorts and tshirts we would be charged for contempt of court. This happens only in our country.

In the west this is not a big crime any longer. Most countries have now realized that its a waste of time and money to prosecute these people who use marijuana as a recreational drug. This is no worse than liquor.
