This is very pathetic. Those who obtain child labour should be punished deterrently.

EMPLOYMENT UNDER ANYONE, IS NOT THE VEDDA LIFESTYLE.

I think this is the second instance of 'vedda kids' being abused, in recent months. Cut this, at its root. The last thing we want is a 'Liberation Veddas of Vanni Eelam' (LVVE)!

This couple in Negombo should be punished for child Labour and NOT for hiring Vadhas.
Vadhars are true natives and indigenous population of The Island. They are descendants of the Bengali Prince Vijaya and native Queen Kuveni.
Like the Narars in the North, they are indigenous people of this island which is now called Sri Lanka.

Indigeneous people should be protected, severe punishment should be met.

one community is over poweing the other community. this shows the economy and wealth is enjoyed by one part of the country, and the other part of the country is suffering. inequality in the sri lankan society and the economy rights and secuity rights not devolved fairly between other communities.

Well we went to Dambana yesterday and what we had to experience was pathetic as well. The Veddas and Vedda are corrupted to the extent where they too are just going after money. The Vedda kids come behind you begging just like beggars in Colombo. Sad scene. Something for the Government to think..

Four Veddhas and one Kala-veddha are being given the same cruel treatment.

    Monday, 01 March 2010 10:24 AM

Give this low born couple the taste of hard work and the days in prison.

Hunting might be a thankless job (since fast urbanization and loss of territory natural habitat etc.,) rather than to get abused by city dwellers, modernization may make it thin to differentiate a tribal from high sophisticated.

How on earth did Vedda kids found their way to Negambo. Were they trying to flee the country.

    Monday, 01 March 2010 08:24 AM

Come on . Veddahs are sri Lankans. Give them voting rights.

    Monday, 01 March 2010 07:35 AM

Disgusting! I hope they are given a fitting sentence!

Capital punishment must be imposed on crimes against children who do not have a voice.

    Monday, 01 March 2010 06:09 AM

Good show SriLanka. This is the way forward.

    Monday, 01 March 2010 05:59 AM

    No harm to Vedda .............................

    Monday, 01 March 2010 05:58 AM

So, what was the judgement? Were the couple directed to serve the Veddahas in Dambane in Mahiyangane for 10 years?? These type of punishment will defentely make fear amongst the wrongdoers. Di it!
