The official celebrations to mark the victory over the LTTE one year ago will be held on Friday, June 18 at Galle Face, the Director General of the Media Center for National Security Lakshman Hullugalle told Daily Mirror online. The celebrations were earlier scheduled to be held on May 20.
The National celebrations will commence at 8.00am at Galle Face while at 4.00pm a commemoration ceremony will be held at the war memorial at Parlaiment grounds in Kotte, the Media Center for National Security said.
A special security and traffic plan is expected to be in place for the event at Galle Face. The celebrations which were earlier scheduled to be held on May 20 had to be postponed owing to bad weather.
