US envoy holds talks with SL on accountability

US Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor Tom Malinowski, who travelled Sri Lanka recently held talks with the government officials as well as the human rights and other representatives on many issues including strengthening democracy, transparency, and accountability.

Issuing a statement the US State Department said on Monday that during the envoy visit to Sri Lanka, he met with senior government representatives to discuss human rights and strengthening democracy, transparency, and accountability. He also met with representatives from human rights, religious, and civil society organizations.

It is the height of the audacity of the WESTERN countries to send Mr. MILINOWSKI talking about human rights violations in Sri Lanka. Please look at your own back yard. You neither want see, hear nor talk about on going human violations perpetrated by these powerful nations, going on right now in Afganstan and the Middle East and other places.You do not seem to have neither shame or conscience,as evidenced by your comments. I am sure you are not oblivious to real facts regarding on going HRs violations occurring at this very minuteBig powers always played the same blame-game, namely accuse less powerful nations, drew the attention of the rest of the world away from the mayham they are causing to other nations right at this moment. This is laughable! The US coming to preach to us about human rights. Every day an unarmed black man is shot dead by white cops in the USA. What of their human rights? How about Iraq and Afghanistan lets leave Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos etc as that was sometime ago.
