Two delegations of US Congress Members are to visit Sri Lanka this year and the next following a pledge given by the Sri Lankan government to support USA’s Asia Pacific Programme, the United National Party (UNP) charged today
UNP National List MP Dr. Harsha De Silva told a news conference that Sri Lankan Ambassador in USA Jaliya Wickramasekera on behalf of the Sri Lankan government had informed the US government that it would support the Asia Pacific programme.
The MP said the Central Bank of Sri Lanka had signed an agreement with US public relations firm Thompson Advisory Group on March 25 this year and after a pledge has been given by the Sri Lankan Ambassador in USA to implement a relationship building programme between the Sri Lankan and the US government.
Accordingly, the Thompson Advisory Group is to organise a visit of a delegation of US Congress Members before September 15 this year and also to organize a second visit of the US congress delegation before March 2014.*(By Yohan Perera and Lahiru Pothmula)

Do NOT suck up to the yankees, stand your ground. The more you grovel, the more they subject you to humiliation. Tell them where to get off.

This is a huge crime. Dr.Harsha should impeach CB Governor for spending peoples money on a foreign PR firm and giving false information to them. Also you should write to this PR firm and bring this to thye attention of US Ambassador in Sri Lanbka.

Looks like you are very sad when we try to be good with the US! For 200 years Sri Lanka has had a robust relationship with the US. We will rebuilt it.

Mr. Harsha, your attitude betrays your intentions. Your party will not come to power at least for another 15 years.

Dr. Silva. Please ask them to be supportive in real terms. Not like what they did to JR.

The politics in America and the average American are two different beings. At least American people are polite and not as corrupt because the average person gets a living wage. . The embassy in Washington seems to be promoting tourism while all other duties are neglected. If Sri Lanka had a good career diplomat who did their job, the country would hot have faced two UN resolutions. All relatives, who are uneducated are given plum jobs when they don't know anything. Dead Loss!!!. LTTE paid Bruce Fein more than he asked when he first came to help Sri Lanka the government had thought he was too expensive. Today, money is spent like water and no results. Then more money is spent.
The visa officer answers the phone in Sinhalese when Sri Lanka is promoting tourism. With all the PR expenses, what is the embassy employed to do? US delegations could have been convinced without all the expense.
