US condemning even a ‘common cold’: Wimal

Minister Wimal Weerawansa today accused the US Embassy of playing the role of opposition leader in Sri Lanka and issuing statements condemning even a ‘common cold.’

He told a meeting at Matale that infrastructure development in villages was continuing unabated. “There are many setbacks in these activities, like when bombs went off in the country and its stability was endangered. Now peace has dawned, but interested parties are continuing to disrupt the development activities by creating sectarian violence. They are trying to create instability in the country in a subtle manner. Rathupaswala incident is one example; we do not condone the shooting that took place there. In a few days United Nations Human Rights Commissioner Navaneetham Pillai is coming to check what’s happening here. The US embassy keeps issuing statement even when an insect flies past.

“Several are attempting to overthrow the Rajapaksa government. But even by winning the Northern Province Council, their attempts would be futile as establishing a weak UNP government and ushering anarchy, would not help in toppling this government. These international observers know very well that by creating separatism they could weaken the Rajapaksa government, so they are bent on establishing a UNP government and is again creating a divided country on ethnicity. The Western forces are now creating disputes between the Sinhala and Muslim communities and among the political parties.

The minister went on to say that many frustrated UNPers are waiting to join the government, but they will not be taken into its folds. There are even some UNPers planning to give money to the government and cross over.

"This government is not going to welcome them. We are firm in our decisions. We took a bold step in taking action against the New Zealand milk food companie" he said.

He stressed that the government would not be defeated and they would be victorious at the Central Provincial Council elections. (Mahesh Keerthiratne)

The socialist Minister Wimal W who is now a capitalist owning a palatial bungalow complete with swimming pool and modern fittings is talking through his hat. This Minister too did the same thing by staging satyagrahas even for a 'common cold'. He puts the blame for the Weliweriya incident and the Grandpass incident on conspirators trying to destabilize the country. The Minister thinks that the masses will believe him. Only those who depend on his charity like a bottle of arrack and a lunch parcel will believe him.
