UNP supporter dies in post-election clash

A man who was injured in a post-election clash between two groups of UNP supporters in the North-Central Province died last morning while undergoing treatment at the Anuradhapura Hospital.

The victim C.M. Priyantha (41) was a resident of Kiriamunakole in Eppawala. Police said these two groups had clashed even during the campaigning period.

Provincial councilor-elect Aruna Buddhika Gunasekara said his brother had been transporting a cut-out in a double cab when he was waylaid and assaulted by the group which supported the candidate who lost at the election. (Athula Bandara and Rohana Chandradasa)

    This is not involving UNP supporters. According to information we have the supporters are UPFA people.
