UNP today opposed the government’s decision to enroll 1000 foreign students to local universities for a fee stating that it will further limit the opportunities for the local students who wish to engage in higher studies.

UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayake told a news conference today that government should provide alternative opportunities for the local students. (YP)

Stupid! The opersition have got their wires crossed as usual. The government should be applauded for brining in foreign students they will not only contribute to the economic development of the country by bringing in much needed foreign exchange. They will buttress the university system and the students will build long lasting friendships with foreign students and enchance their skills and culture.

Lately the govt met failure or didnt enjoy successs in every thing they try to implemented. Keep that pace and fight back.
Do work with JVP too irrespective of your views. They are very good in organizing.

Sizable portion of university positions should allocated to foreign students to infuse capital into university system and improve salary and number of positions available in the faculties. There should be some practical business plan where all three parties sri lankan students , academic staff and international students can benefit.

This is really strange! If I remember correct it was the UNP that pushed through the idea of the private medical college. They seem to have lost their plot.

It is really strange and sad our Politicians vision on our country,
They want to take our country backward.
These Idiots want just power to gain their personal welth and benefit only.
Bringing Foreign student is much better for the country as well as for our own students.
This does not mean that I'm supporting MR. but we have to appreciate when they make good decisions.

Dushantha Kurera Wednesday, 29 June 2011 03:50 AM
