The report by the UNP reforms committee headed by UNP MP Joseph Michael Perera will be handed over to party leader Ranil Wickramasingha on Thursday following the final deliberations scheduled to be held tomorrow.
Speaking to Daily Mirror online UNP MP Joseph Michael Perera said that the reforms committee, which had met over the past few weeks, will convene again tomorrow to seek input from more UNP members and will then handover the final report to the UNP leader on Thursday.
Wickramasingha is later expected to hand over the report to the UNP working committee which will discuss the proposals on party reforms and later present it at the UNP national convention scheduled for August to reach a decision on changes in the UNP.
The UNP reforms proposals are aimed at seeking a change in the system adopted to appoint the post of party leader as well as other key positions and also will include measures required to be taken to revive the party which has lost several elections over the past few years. (Daily Mirror online)
