Crucial UNP meetings begin

The UNP’s factions today will have a series of meetings prior to the final meeting scheduled to be held this evening among UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe, Deputy Leader Sajith Premadasa and Karu Jayasuriya.

A meeting in this regard between Mr. Premadasa, Mr. Jayasuriya and the Chief Prelate of the Polwaththe Temple in Kollupitiya Ven. Girambe Ananda Thera had already been held early today.

Sources said that there was “unanimous” agreement between the three parties regarding the proposals to be submitted to Mr. Wickremesinghe.

However, the details of the proposals were undisclosed.

The Prelate is scheduled to meet Wickremesinghe at 2 in the afternoon today at the temple during which the proposals would be submitted.

Mr. Wickremesinghe, Jayasuriya and Premadasa would meet at the office of the UNP leader in Jawaththe at 4.00 p.m. today, party officials said.( Hafeel Farisz)
