All these comments gives the impression that we will have to put up with Merv & co. for a long time??
Labby Tuesday, 16 October 2012 12:41 PM
Any right thinking citizen of this country should know that Mr Fonseka has no political future, hence the desperate attempts taken to maintain his name.
Don Siripala Tuesday, 16 October 2012 01:31 PM
You rite, He can only follow orders and he is no better that MR. Thank god he lost the last election.
Mason Tuesday, 16 October 2012 01:34 PM
Everyone is aware that the present incumbent as president is power hungry and has usurped unprecedented powers. Democratic institutions are being silenced. The need of the hour therefore is to change the government as well as abolish the Presidency. Towards this every right thinking person must get together and support whosoever is leading the battle. It is stupid for Tissa Attanayake to say that sometime back SF did not join their protest , so the UNP should not support their protest.
Squiryl de Alwis Tuesday, 16 October 2012 01:37 PM
Give a call to Ranil and tell him to step down I'm sure he'll leave... NOT
Trehan Munsinghe Tuesday, 16 October 2012 01:47 PM
Election results speak for themselves... about the UNP....Its far better for SF to go on his own.. SL needs a voice , its time !!
Cobbler Tuesday, 16 October 2012 01:50 PM
SF should know more diplomacy. He should have spoken to the UNP leaders before talking to these discards. They got an unwanted publicity.
LIAMSI Tuesday, 16 October 2012 01:54 PM
VERY SOON THEY WILL TAKE THE PARTY TO JOIN HANDS WITH THE MR GOVERNMENT AND RANI MAY BECOME THE PRIME MINISTER THERE.........THATS WHERE THEY ARE HEADING FOR.......
John Tuesday, 16 October 2012 02:03 PM
As long as Mr. Wickramasinghe is the UNP leader there will be a devided opposition. These are all selfish politicians.
Farzan Tuesday, 16 October 2012 02:05 PM
People like Thissa Attanayake and Ranil and few others are the main reason to division not only in the opposition but also within their party itself.
Poor leaderships only made this party to this condition.
cap Tuesday, 16 October 2012 02:14 PM
Mr. Attanayake please wake up & smell the roses, The UNP is no more. You need to wake up open your eyes and see that the UNP party is slowly loosing it's good ppl. You & Ranil need to step down & never come back to the Party, we are fed up of you two & some others bowing down to the Big guy & his govt. it's time some one took control and gave a good fight to him rather than some puppets like you both. Please hear our messages loud & clear to leave the UNP Party with immediate effect.
Ajith Tuesday, 16 October 2012 02:11 PM
Ok, Parliamentary Elections, SF contested on his own, not with UNP, how much was he able to pull ...?????????
Ajith Tuesday, 16 October 2012 02:12 PM
He tried is luck, contesting the Presidential elections and that too when he had more supporters...
Medalankara de Chopp Tuesday, 16 October 2012 04:19 PM
Sorry folks, Tissa cracked a joke, which you did not understand. He is the modern Andare.Have a hearty laugh
Cyril de Alwis Tuesday, 16 October 2012 10:29 AM
Yes, very true. But Ranil must vanish as the leader of UNP and Mr. Fonseka should take over his post. This is the only solution, if he joins UNP. Ranil is one of the weakest leaders in Sri Lanka we ever had.
Cyril

Gona Mark Wednesday, 17 October 2012 03:24 AM
Forget about parliamentary elections. The point here is, RW can not attract the masses towards UNP/opposition. The question is, can UNP motivate the neutral, ordinary not voting masses in the next election? Unless you do it RW is history perhaps UNP too.
leelananda Wednesday, 17 October 2012 05:25 AM
ask the ranil and thissa same and then will see the result.
Raju Wednesday, 17 October 2012 01:53 PM
You may be right. But worse culprit in this division is SF.
Raju Wednesday, 17 October 2012 01:58 PM
If you get SF instead of Mervin you will be raped. Mervin behaves as an illiterate idiot. But you cannnot satisfy the carnel desires of a Commander.
rednaxela Friday, 19 October 2012 10:50 AM
Tissa Attanayake you have become Tiththa Attanayake. Nobody wants you. Think of retirement from politics. It's good for you and the Country.

chuti Tuesday, 16 October 2012 08:51 AM
Sorry Tissa, SF is just an officer. Not a gentleman.
So he does forget those who help him easily.
Royalist Tuesday, 16 October 2012 12:00 AM
What is there to divide anymore? The UNP itself is hopelessly divided! via DM Android App
Prasannajit Tuesday, 16 October 2012 08:56 AM
What is the sacrifice they made? They didnt have anybody to put up as a candidate. UNP is the party who are carrying out the govt contract.
sam Tuesday, 16 October 2012 12:00 AM
the main opposition has its own internal politics and they have no backbone to do anything what the gvt is doing and now they are blaming the ones who are trying to make a change. wth via DM Android App
flipper Tuesday, 16 October 2012 09:06 AM

CounterClockwise Tuesday, 16 October 2012 09:06 AM
I guess Mr Fonseka Should Join the UNP , thus bringing the UNP in to a power ful state,, Forming a new party wil actually divide the votes.. making the GOverment to stay for ever!!!
Noorulhaq Tuesday, 16 October 2012 09:08 AM
Sorry Sir you are barking at wrong tree, others have nothing to do with your inability to build the unity among its members, you have only to blame your leader, whom losing the confident of masses day by day.

Gampaha citizen Tuesday, 16 October 2012 09:27 AM

People are relieved because UNP cannot put SF back in jail.
Minister Tuesday, 16 October 2012 10:09 AM
Looking at the records of election defeats of UNP in the last several decades, do you think, had you fielded a UNP candidate in the last Presidential Elections, today you would have had a UNP President? Whom are you trying to narrate these fairy tales to?
Ravishan Tuesday, 16 October 2012 10:06 AM
Till your leader is there no way an opposition can win an election. Why not SF too try his luck?
dont insult us Tuesday, 16 October 2012 10:18 AM

Al Rasa Tuesday, 16 October 2012 10:32 AM
As far as some faction of UNP is thinking out of the box no challenge is given to the govt. It;s only with Ranil's leadership supported by all will solve the problem.
